Hi! My name is Stephanie. I am the owner, director, and
teacher here at Little Friends Daycare. I established my home childcare
business in September 1998.
Licensing
In order to be a licensed daycare home in the state of Virginia, one must
provide childcare to more than 5 unrelated children. I choose to keep 5 or fewer
children in my program and, therefore, do not qualify for licensing. However, I
became voluntarily registered in 1999. This means I am subject to unannounced
inspections and must complete educational training just as a licensed childcare
provider does. My husband and I have received a background check and had our
names run through the National Child Abuse Registry as required by the state of
Virginia.
Education
I am First Aid & CPR certified. I regularly receive training in may
aspects of the childcare business. I have an Associate's degree in
Education and intend to eventually pursue a Master's in Education. That will be
awhile though! I am also a member of the Professional Family Child-Care and
Early Education Association and the Virginia Alliance of Family Child Care
Association.
Philosophy
As a home daycare provider and preschool teacher, my goal is to provide a
safe and happy environment for each child that will stimulate his or her
physical, cognitive, social, and emotional growth. Children are encouraged
to express themselves through play, language, music, creative art, and
most importantly, through fun! We learn through playing and exploring.
I believe in encouraging children to grow through their own imagination
and independence. I incorporate
High Reach
Learning Framework and
Early
Beginnings into my preschool program. However, I do not push
children to participate in activities they choose not to. I give the
children I care for the best of both worlds by providing loving care, a
preschool program, and fun learning activities while maintaining a family
setting.
Personal Info
I was born (10/16/1971) and raised in Missouri, married my high school
sweetheart, Troy. Troy's military career landed us in Virginia, where we
have been for 10 years now. Troy and I have been married for 13 years and
have two wonderful children. Tori is 9 years old and Trevor is 4 years
old. Both of my children are very active in extracurricular activities, so
most of our evenings and Saturdays are spend at a sport practice, game, or
Scouts. |
